5th Academics

Bible Class

Chapel, prayer, scripture memorization, and topical media will be used for discussion and spiritual growth with an emphasis on character building and strengthening the student’s bond with God.

Language Arts

Daily writing (covering expository, essay, biography, autobiography, fiction, non-fiction…) reading comprehension, grammar and spelling skills using BJU press and Purposeful Design curriculum. Games for grammar and spelling review.

Math

A-Beka curriculum covers basic arithmetic skills and word problems through Algebra I, with introduction to Geometry and Trigonometry over the three years. Small group and individual instruction emphasis, using math art and games to aid comprehension.

SCIENCE

Life, space, and earth science curriculums are from bju press. Science projects, labs, Google earth, and field trips enrich understanding of life on earth and the physical laws of our planet and the universe.

WORLD CULTURES AND AMERICAN HISTORY

Using BJU Press as curriculum, students study God’s plan laid out through time. World cultures’ religions, economies, governments, scientific and artistic accomplishments, explorations and conflicts.

ART

“Geography in Art” curriculum gives students examples to practice the art techniques and to learn the history of different cultures around the world

PHYSICAL EDUCATION

Students practice fine and gross motor skills in game units (softball, basketball, volleyball…) Emphasis on improving personal skills and teamwork.
